In the electrolysis field, a lot of factors remain a mystery to first time users or people who want to have it done. That is why we have set up an FAQ section in our site. There are hundreds of questions that are asked about electrolysis, whether it is about the actual procedure, race or nationality issues, cleanliness of the procedure, or the healing process, these answers are sure to help you understand more about this breakthrough method of hair removal:

Q. Is electrolysis a new technique? How old is it?
A. Electrolysis has been around since 1875. D.J. Mahler was one of the first people in America to practice it back in 1880.

Q. Should I just try those "alternative" hair removal machines or methods?
A. If you want to have safe and effective results, no. Electrolysis is the ONLY permanent hair removal method. Tools and machines like electronic tweezers and laser hair removal are no more effective than waxing, bleaching, or shaving. These alternative methods are not approved by the FDA and are not guaranteed for pemanent removal of hair.

Q. Does it hurt?
A. Electrolysis hair removal involves a split-second current that is less than tweezing or waxing. You can barely tell the probe is being inserted.

Q. What type of needles are involved?
A. A very special type of needle is used just for electrolysis. The needle is specifically designed for electrolysis use only.

Q. Is electrolysis really permanent?
A. Yes, it is. Medical authorities all agree that electrolysis is the only safe and permanent way to remove hair.

Q. What about the healing process?
A. After a session of electrolysis, healing is generally rapid. No signs of the treatment remains on your skin, there may be some temporary redness. This redness will quickly disappear when you use your own after-treatment, which is directed by your electrologist.

Q. How old should you be for an electrolysis treatment?
A. Any age is safe for electrolysis, but pre-teens and adults over 65 should consult a physician first.

Q. Why can't I use depilatories to get rid of hair?
A. Depilatories only temporarily remove hair. Hair will grow back in a matter of days, plus depilatories have unpleasant odors and take a while to use them.

Q. What if hair returns while I'm being treated?
A. The hair that grows back would be hair that hadn't yet appeared when you started. This is caused by hair that you might have tried to remove by yourself previously, and hair usually takes about one to fourteen weeks to grow back.

Q. What do I do about heavy growth of hair between treatments?
A. You should cut hairs in or near the area that is being treated, but make sure you leave enough hair for your electrologist to remove. Never tweeze or bleach.

Q. Can all my hairs be removed in one treatment?
A. Sometimes, depending on the amount of hair, the area of the hair, or the individual being treated. Usually a series of treatments is necessary.

Q. What parts of the body can benefit from electrolysis? What parts can't?
A. Every part of the body except inside the ears and nose. Electrolysis can remove hair from larger areas of the body, such as the back and the arms and legs, within limits of your time and budget.

Q. Is electrolysis equally effective for both genders?
A. Yes they most certainly are. Men just as well as women seek the service of a professional electrologist with excellent results.
